Each year, around December 8th, about 100 widows are transported to the BIRDS campus for a celebration, lunch, and a small gift. Because many widows are ostracized by their families and villages and are frequently excluded from weddings and other celebrations, this day offers these women hope, camaraderie, and the knowledge that people care about them.
